Passing of president of ADAPP,Margaret Morgan Azerbaijani civil right activists and political prisoners have just lost one of their best friends and dedicated supporters. Prominent human rights advocate, one of the founders of the Amnesty International Canada, and the president of the Association for the Defence of Azerbaijani Political Prisoners in Iran (ADAPP), Ms. Margaret Morgan has passed away on June 19, 2011 in Vancouver after a short illness. Ms. Morgan has spent most of her life in supporting and advocating for the rights of those living under the oppressive governments and dictator regimes. Since 2006, after learning about extent of economic and cultural discrimination and racism against Azerbaijani Turks living in Iran, Margaret has become a passionate advocate of rights of Iranian minorities and has vigorously been promoting their problems and challenges in the international arena. Due to Ms. Margaret Morgan reputation among human rights group, dedication to Azerbaijani human rights and hard work, ADAPP was able to establish partnerships with various international human rights groups across the world and promote rights of Azerbaijani minorities living in Iran. This is a devastating loss for ADAPP. Despite the difficlit news, ADAPP is determined to contunie its struggle to support Azerbaijani political prisoners and civil right activists in the international arena and advocate for the Azerbiajni cultural and language rights in Iran.
