When the Gajar Turkish State was officially collapsed in 1925, new Iran government established by Riza shah who became a king of Iran by supporting of different countries such as Britain and U.S. Since that time, heavy pressure applied to all areas for Azerbaijanian and all other Turks in Iran; therefore, the new Persian government started to do negative assimilation for Turks in Iran.
Using and studying Turkish language that was a formal language of Iran, proscribed by Riza Pahlavi, and Persian language became an only formal language in all Iran. During the first years of the Riza shah administration, Turks people suffered various cultural, economical, and political injustice; also, most of the Azerbaijanian political and cultural activists condemned to imprisonment or exile life. However, Azerbaijanian could establish their government in 1945-1946 by Seyid Jafar Pishevari, but the new government of Azerbaijan took only one year because after one year South Azerbaijan occupied by Riza shah`s army in 1946. The Pahlavi’s army killed thousands of civil Azerbaijani (Turks) people; also, they executed all ministries and generals of the Azerbaijanian government. So, the Turks nation in Iran lost all their rights for second time, but they did not stop their movement and struggle to gain their national rights
Pahlavi`s government removed by the Islamic revolution in 1979. Khomein, the leader of the Islamic revolution who could make the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the new Islamic government did not care of the rights of the other non- Persian nations in Iran, so they have been following Riza shah`s racialist policies. Now, more than 30.000.000 Turks have to suffer the racialist and inhuman treatments of the Persian government of Iran. Even, the Islamic government of Iran does not let studying in their own language for Turk nation in Iran; moreover, the government ignores the constitution and all demands of Turks.
The National Movement of South Azerbaijan that has formed by intellectuals, students, and all class of the community has been defending their basic human rights that have been ignored by Iran government. So, during the demanding and claiming trough South Azerbaijan national movement, the Turks people have been able to introduce their problems in the international communities and organizations.
The dictator Iran government does not want to recognize the rights of non- Persian nations and solve their problems; moreover, a lot of cultural and political activists of South Azerbaijan national movement have condemned to long term incarceration and physical punishment by the government of Iran. Currently, there are a lot of civil and cultural Azerbaijani activists such as Said Matin Pour who was working as a journalist that last year he condemned for 8 years jail by the Iran government.
In addition, there is a court time for 13 cultural and political activists who must be appear in Iran Tabriz Enghelab court in January 01, 2011. But the court will be closed for the public, so our request is justice on trial for the 13 individuals and open for the world public opinion.
