Street Children in South Azerbaijan
South Azerbaijan has millions poor working class
people. Their children as young as six are seen travelling to different part of
cities to work. They can be found cleaning car windows, weighting by scales,
shining shoes, and selling items such as gum, poems, plastic bags, flowers and
so on. In Azerbaijan, many children suffer from eye problems including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Lack of Vitamin A, basic health care, and improper lighting conditions at work are just some of the factors contributing to poor health conditions. The main issue surrounding child labour workers is that they are missing out on education in order to provide for their poverty stricken families. In many cases, the absence of education forces children to work tedious jobs without proper work plans and health care. Millions Azerbaijani children live below the poverty line and living in extreme poverty. Thousands of street children sell miscellaneous items to passing people. The sight of child street workers has become a common part of life for Azerbaijanis.
Recent studies reveal that more than fourteen
percent of all children Azerbaijan are currently working so as to provide income
for their families.
